Wrist Rehabilitation

Wrist pain and dysfunction commonly affect individuals whose work or daily activities require repetitive motion, sustained gripping, weight bearing through the hands, or prolonged computer use. The wrist plays a key role in positioning the hand, and injuries in this area often lead to reduced strength, limited motion, and difficulty tolerating routine tasks.

Common wrist conditions include wrist sprains, tendinitis, Colles fracture, carpal tunnel syndrome, post-fracture stiffness, and post-surgical wrist conditions. These issues often arise from overuse, repetitive strain, awkward wrist positioning, falls onto an outstretched hand, or cumulative microtrauma over time.

Work-related wrist injuries are frequently seen in occupations involving keyboard use, assembly work, healthcare tasks, construction, and tool operation. Poor ergonomics, sustained deviation of the wrist, and forceful gripping can contribute to symptom development. Nerve-related wrist conditions may cause numbness, tingling, or weakness that interferes with dexterity and endurance.

If left untreated, wrist conditions may progress, leading to reduced tolerance for work tasks, difficulty lifting or carrying objects, and compensatory movement patterns that strain the elbow or shoulder.

Wrist rehabilitation through occupational therapy addresses pain and functional limitations while supporting long-term recovery. Care is tailored to the underlying condition and focuses on restoring comfortable, efficient wrist use for work, daily activities, and recreation.
