Shoulder Rehabilitation
Shoulder pain and movement limitations often interfere with lifting, reaching, overhead activities, and sustained arm use. Because the shoulder is involved in positioning the entire upper extremity, dysfunction in this joint can significantly affect work performance and daily life.
Common shoulder conditions include rotator cuff injuries, shoulder impingement, bursitis, tendinitis, adhesive capsulitis, post-surgical shoulder conditions, and work-related shoulder injuries. These issues may develop due to repetitive overhead activity, heavy lifting, poor posture, falls, or cumulative strain over time.
Work-related shoulder injuries are frequently seen in occupations involving manual labor, healthcare, warehouse work, and prolonged desk-based tasks. Shoulder conditions may cause pain, weakness, reduced range of motion, and difficulty performing tasks above shoulder level or away from the body.
If not addressed, shoulder dysfunction can lead to compensatory movement patterns involving the neck, elbow, or wrist, increasing the risk of additional injury.
Occupational therapy for shoulder conditions supports recovery by addressing pain, movement limitations, and functional restrictions while helping patients safely resume work and daily activities.
